Assembled by Ferdinand Vester, Souvenir of the Holy Land: Jerusalem is a massive album filled with 46 black and white albumen photographs that document the influence of Jerusalem's three monotheistic religions on the city's history and architecture. The wooden binding is made of inlaid olive wood, which was a popular material used by local craftsmen. The photographs were taken by Félix Bonfils, a notable French photographer active in the Middle East in the 19th Century. Bonfils' photographs were very popular souvenir items for travelers and they were reproduced in numerous magazines, books, and newspapers of the time.
